These tables are made of “ancient swamp KAURI” from New Zealand, wood that has lain buried in the earth for thousands of years. This wood may vary in age from 7,000 to 50,000 years old. The special character of the mud in which this wood has been buried and the lack of oxygen in the soil have meant that no fossilization has taken place and the wood still remains splendid and intact, as if it had just been cut.
Ces tables sont en « kaori de marécage ancien » en provenance de la Nouvelle-Zélande. Le kaori est un bois qui est enseveli sous terre depuis des millénaires. L’âge de ce bois varie de 7,000 jusqu’à 50,000 années. Les caractéristiques distinctes de la boue dans laquelle le bois a été enfouie et l’absence d’oxygène dans le sol a empêché la fossilisation et a préservé le bois, qui est splendide et intact, comme s’il venait d’être coupé.
This product cannot be compared to a “normal” wooden table. Rather it should be considered as something extraordinary, unique and inimitable: a genuine work of art created by the hand of Nature.

It is a perfectly normal feature of this wood, in fact it is one of the unique aspects of this product, that the lengths of ANCIENT KAURI wood that are about 30,000 years old may have cracks in them as well as natural splits and dents.

Table in solid wood. Available in solid wenge, oil finish. The crossover legs are visible on the top, made from tree trunk sections. Any cracks or splits in the table legs are completely normal, being typical properties of solid wood which, as it ages and becomes seasoned, shifts according to the different conditions in its surroundings and the humidity of the air.

Table en bois massif. Disponible en wengé avec une finition huilée. Le croisement des pieds de table, fait de sections de tronc d’arbre, se voit sur le dessus. Toutes fêlures ou fissures sont entièrement normales, et sont en effet des propriétés typiques du bois massif, qui en vieillissant bouge selon les conditions de son environnement et l’humidité dans l’air.
