News Cologne 2013 - A series of new B&B Italia and Outdoor proposals has been presented during the IMM Cologne Fair.

The Grande Papilio armchair now appears with an entirely new look; now available in a natural abaca.

Andy ’13 by Paolo Piva
So ten years after its debut, the Andy sofa by Paolo Piva, which became a classic in the new millennium, appears in new sizes – without affecting its ability to transform from a sofa into a chaise-longue.

Tobi-Ishi by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby
Launched last April with a cement grout finish, the Tobi-Ishi is now available in two contrasting types of marble, white Carrara and black Marquinia.

OUTDOOR COLLECTION
Canasta ’13 by Patricia Urquiola
Canasta’13 by Patricia Urquiola is given a tortora melange makeover with the new polyethylene fibre, creating an interlacing that evokes the designer’s Crinoline collection. The sofas, armchairs and small armchairs all feature new fabrics and are accompanied by small tables that harmonise with the new colors.

Papilio Outdoor Collection by  Naoto Fukasawa
Identical to the indoor version, but with a lighter appearance thanks to the materials, the armchairs Papilio by Naoto Fukasawa now join the Outdoor Collection. The Awa table by Naoto Fukasawa is given outdoor functionality by a new type of Cristalplant ® material.

Grande Papilio by B&B Italia

With its seamless and fluid design, the Grande Papilio chair evokes simplicity and comfort. When designing it, Naoto Fukasawa’s intention was to create a chair that obviously looked comfortable.

Showcased on Nowness, James Mollison’s photographs of the Grande Papilio chair capture the design and fabrication process at the B&B Italia factory - from mini-prototype to life-size metal frame to finished product. Take a look!
