Kasthall has been designing and manufacturing unique woven and hand tufted rugs and carpets since 1889. Since its foundation the company has been operating from its own factory in Kinna, an area rich in textile manufacturing history in the west of Sweden. This is where we still make all our woven and hand tufted rugs today. Over the years, Kasthall has grown to become one of the leading international designers and manufacturers of rugs. Today the company is represented in more than 30 countries around the world.

Dag and Natt
design: Petra Lundblad-Fridén

Our designer Petra Lundblad-Fridén’s passion for experimenting with different images and colours, and using layers to create new expressions, has resulted in this printed pattern. It is bold yet discreet, fateful and dreamlike at the same time. Everyone interprets the pattern differently. Perhaps the sun is breaking through the clouds after rain, or rolling waves are in contrast to a dark sky, or trees and bushes are thrashing in the wind.

The four colour combinations have names reflecting the weather and sky phenomena: Haze, Thunder, Summer Dawn and Autumn Dusk. The pattern is printed on our woven rug Häggå in pure wool.

Embroidery
design: Petra Lundblad-Fridén

Embroidery is an exclusive hand tufted rug in pure wool with an imaginative pattern. By playing with different textures of yarn – our thick, luxurious-quality Classic combined with our beautiful Tekla – Petra Lundblad-Fridén, our designer, created a pattern that is reminiscent of an embroidery that is in progress. The pattern is a bit mystical, so you feel you lose track of the stitches as your eye looks for regularity in the irregular. It is up to the observer to complete the image.

Embroidery is available in five colour combinations, all of them selected to heighten the mysterious character of the rug.

Fading
design: Petra Lundblad-Fridén

Fading is a hand tufted rug in wool and linen. The natural materials in the rug and the two yarn colours combine to create a highly expressive and detailed pattern. The shading and directional shifts in the pattern are inspired by the feeling of things changing over time, shifting in tone and ebbing away.

With a little imagination, you may see a landscape outlined in the gossamer pattern at the base of the rug. It may be a field in autumn, falling leaves – stillness. Fading is available in four different colour combinations.

Gry
design: Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg

Gry is a hand tufted rug of wool and linen. Mathias, one of our talented hand tufters, developed this new texture from existing ones, so we decided to name the rug after his daughter Gry.

Gry has a soft shimmering and robust surface with a fresh, vibrant expression. The mixture of wool and linen in different nuances gives this rug its unique structure and lustre. The collection comes in a wide palette that suits many settings.

Happy
design: Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg

Happy is a woven rug of wool and linen, colourful and charismatic, with stripes that both harmonise and contrast. A charming relative to our rug Doris, the name Happy comes from the lovely sensation you get when you walk on it. Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg, our chief designer, named the five different colour combinations after feelings and life situations that she likes: Passion, Summer Holiday, Winter Night, Potato Digging and Harmony.

Happy is a fantastic piece of handicraft. All the colour and yarn changes are painstaking work that requires patience and great professional skill from the Kasthall weavers.

Marocco

Marocco’s pattern takes its inspiration from North Africa while the texture itself is firmly rooted in our woven bouclé rug family. Imagine the scent of spices and milling markets or a cup of mint tea in a
Bedouin tent.

The meeting between Scandinavian simplicity and oriental richness creates a sublime rug. Made from wool and linen, the eight colour combinations are inspired by spices: salt, pepper, aniseed, vanilla, cardamom, cayenne, spearmint and ginger.

In designing Chips, Monica Graffeo sought to “de-materialize objects in order to use as less material as possible to produce them.” As a result, the Chips floor and suspension lamps are elegant pieces that consist simply of overlapping layers of hi-tech fabric. Chips is offered in several color combinations and sizes.

design: Stefano Traverso

Lola by Stefano Traverso is a colorful and playful collection of suspension, wall and table lamps, with a vintage feel. These lamps are available in a variety of colors, and the Royale version of the lamp is embellished with Swarovski crystals.

Flamingo is the new table lamp designed by Stefano Traverso. The solid concrete base contrasts with the slender metal stem and adjustable diffuser. It is available in various colors.

T-CHAIR
by Barazzuol / Malisan

T-Chair takes its name from the T of Tacchini which, incidentally, is also a distinguishing feature of the back of the chair. T-Chair is the result of the desire to make a chair as simple as its design sketch. The unbroken penciled line is transformed into the coated and bent iron frame with a rectangular profile. Discretely attached to this frame are the soft shapes of the seat and back made in wood or upholstery for comfortable seating. The T-Chair is available in a variety of colors and fabrics.

CRYSTAL
by Pearson Lloyd

The Crystal collection of sofas and armchairs reflects smart and absolute simplicity.

The Crystal collection consists of a 2 or 3 seater sofa and two armchairs: one is square-shaped, while the other one is round-shaped and snug throughout with a round cushion in the middle.

For each piece in this collection, a lifting effect is created through the beveled base.

FIXIE

The new Maxalto collection, coordinated by Antonio Citterio, sees a number of changes that the designer has used to expand the range of chairs, including both sofas and armchairs.

These new pieces include a new design for the Lutetia sofa which is emphasised through a distinctive wooden frame, a quilted cushion seat and a series of unfixed cushions for the backrest.

In addition, the new collection expands on the Febo series, with new versions offered in a range of finishes - a wooden based design (available in five variations - natural, brown, grey, black and smoked oak) with chrome or nickel legs. The series also includes a new chair with more enveloping lines, as well as a small armchair now available with armrests.

Storage units and tables were presented with a new finish: a smoked oak with a saw-cut surface, producing a brown-grey hue without concealing the grain. The cut recreates the handcrafted look created by a saw, leaving visible traces of the work, and adding value to the timeless elegance of the Maxalto brand.

New marble shelves, black Marquinia and white Calacata, make the dining tables and small tables such as the Pathos in the Simplice collections even more striking.

is the greeting with which B&B Italia announces its new product launches for 2011. Seating, which has always been a particularly strong part of the brand, is the focus of its creative work this year with each product bearing the mark of its designer. For 2011, the work of internationally renowned designers Antonio Citterio and Patricia Urquiola is joined by products from Gabriele and Oscar Buratti, who will be presenting their second designs for B&B Italia.

Working together with B&B Italia’s Research and Development Centre, whose excellence is widely acknowledged, all the designers achieved impressive results, dedicating themselves to an often long and complex development process. The new chairs are functional objects, aesthetically expressive with attention to detail, industrially produced and designed to last the test of time.

Beverly

is an extremely elegant armchair of a balanced modernity that enables it to interact with diverse styles and settings. It is contoured by a folding frame in aluminium alloy with a bright brushed or black chrome finish. It is also available in a variety of covers that enable alternative interpretations: from leather for a more classic version to cotton fabrics with leather profiles or technical fabrics that enliven it with bright colours. Two heights are available for the backrest, guaranteeing customised comfort.

Husk

A moulded plastic shell and a series of soft cushions: these are the basic elements of the Husk armchair. A celebration of softness, Husk is the result of a long development process to create a versatile armchair that is both unique in its own right and able to complement even the most classic sofas. Three types of cushions are available: standard, large and very large or with a headrest, while the body support can be either fixed or rotating.

A ottoman footrest is also available. Playing on the wide range of colours and finishes of the body (in four-toned recycled plastic), the support (in natural oak or grey or black lacquered wood) and covers (numerous types of leather or fabric), Husk can radically change its appearance, from a single colour to an extremely bright or subtly elegant style. With this project, B&B Italia embraces the theme of ecology by using both recycled and recyclable materials, and components that can be fully disassembled in future - thus simplifying the recycling process and reducing the environmental impact.

Doyl

The seating theme continues with the exploration of the formal and technical development of thick leather. A simple, comfortable chair with refined details created in just one material, Doyl introduces a type of padded leather chair where the classic proportions are inverted, transforming lines that are normally concave into convex sections, and thus enhancing the perception of softness.

The designers placed great importance on graphic markings, created through continuous stitching on both the fronts and backs of the chair which correspond to the cutting lines and junctions of the thick leather. The leather is folded, curved and turned inside out, but never cut. The padding adds surprising comfort for a leather chair, while alternative technical materials offer brightly coloured variations.

Landscape, Ray, Surface, Tufty-Too

This year, a series of designs of undisputed success are presented at the Salone’s fiftieth edition with new versions alongside the old. Their permanence on the market is an affirmation of success and popularity from the public which prompted new versions and finishes of these products. Further, the new editions are in perfect harmony with the company’s dedication to continuously offering new options of enhanced comfort and function.

Ten years since its debut and no less popular, Landscape by Jeffrey Bernett offers a sensation of movement with its lithe, airy lines. A new rocking base transforms it into the most modern of rocking chairs, while a cushioned seat with a three-dimensional surface, designed by Kvadrat for B&B Italia in seven colour variations (mustard yellow, purple, yellow, beige, sage green, orange and dark brown) enhances its comfort.

Ray, the seating system by Antonio Citterio that was met with immediate success at last year’s Milan Furniture Fair, is enhanced this year with an accompanying armchair padded like the sofa with the same blanket stitch detailing, suitable for both the home and contract sectors.

Also augmented since its debut last year, the range of low Surface tables by Vincent Van Duysen is now available in a range of strong and intense shades (15 colours in all). The tables are even more lively thanks to the option of a glossy lacquer finish for shelves and dividers.

With Tufty-Too, Patricia Urquiola recalls one of the most successful designs in her collaboration with B&B Italia and adds a new, soft and contemporary appearance to this family of sofas.

The cover, easily removable, is distinguished by matching and contrasting stitching that becomes a decorative motif. The new range of fabrics offers interesting alternatives for texture and colour that complement already existing items.

For the International exhibition Maison & Objet 2011, Casamania is back with a collection of pieces selected and developed with a close and careful attention to detail. The collection is characterised by a strong desire to bring a sense of enthusiasm and optimism into the spaces, which surround us, bringing together issues of comfort and the use of high quality materials. A collection of exciting and captivating products, some of which presented last April at the Salone del Mobile of Milan, creations by leading international designers and young designers alike. Among the numerous themes touched upon by the 2011 collection, perhaps the most omnipresent is the subject of eco-sustainability, a topic which is increasingly at the heart of the design and development process. Casamania is proud to present products which take this concept further than the mere idea of ‘recyclability’, embarking instead into a world where sustainability is extended into areas of social responsibility and cultural preservation: the teak used in the collection comes from special plantations which are certified and managed according to the rigorous criteria of the Forest Stewardship Council; the wool used in the GRANNY lamp is cultivated as part of a project designed to safeguard the traditions of the Tyrolean shepherds and famers, then treated and elaborated by the workers of a community based project rehabilitating people in need. The POLIART tables are part of an initiative designed to offer support for some of Europe’s most renowned historic cities.

Casamania is always recognised for the strong use of colour, a unique, unusual and rich language that put quality at the first place. Nuance is a new concept in upholstered seating. Nuance is available in two versions: one designed to be used with a table, and a “lounge” version- lower, wider and more welcoming. The upholstery of Nuance incorporates a subtle range of colours thanks to the careful workmanship involved in utilising fabric off-cuts. Nuance combines a strong ergonomic approach with visual appeal and the hand-made tradition of the master craftsman, giving extra value to the product as well as minimising waste.

Lightness and sensuality come together in the latest version of the iconic HER chair. Philippe I
Design: Sam Baron

Philippe I is a mini-collection of “gueridon” or small tables and coffee tables. The Philippe I side tables are easy to place in any type of environment, either singularly or in couples. The collection is completed with an intimate dining or coffee table, which evokes the romanticism of candle-lit dinners in the warm Parisian night. Explicit stylistic references reminiscent of the 18th century French cabinetry tradition, coupled with an attention to detail, manufacturing methods, and usability that are characteristic of our 21st century way of life.

The Babela chair is the product of an historic partnership between brothers Pier Giacomo and Achille Castiglioni, with Dino Gavina, the Italian industrial design pioneer. Unveiled in 1958 as part of the furnishings for Milan's Chamber of Commerce in Via Meravigli, it was designed to solve the furnishing needs of large meeting rooms and conference halls. The chair is built light so that it can be easily moved around, and stackable with minimal clearance. It can be arranged to create long straight rows, armrest against armrest, making the most of the available space. Its functionality is enhanced by a pronounced feeling of comfort and correct posture.

Cage
Design: Gordon Guillaumier

Gordon Guillaumier's Cage coffee table design focusses on the use of metal strips which have been stamped with a slight bend so as to soften the geometry of the whole piece. It is made to adapt to the rounded shapes of chairs and sofas.

Dressed
Design: Luca Nichetto

By drawing on the protective padding used in sportswear, designer Luca Nichetto incorporated the sofa into a single covering that "clothes" the frame like a dress. Soft, comfortable, and fully customizable with different types of coverings, Dressed stands for a casual-chic style that is as well suited to the home as it is to public furnishings.

V-Table
Design: Xavier Lust

The V-Table collection is a project with a marked simplicity and versatility that meets the needs of large-scale production and distribution, while maintaining high standards in quality and style. To celebrate its third attendance at NOW! Design à Vivre, Kristalia will take two design projects, created in France, to Paris, as well as many other new products. Renowned international designer Christophe Pillet has created the elegant Pulp cantilever chair for Kristalia and the Neat table, which combines sensuality and versatility in a few clear-cut lines.

For the first time, the BCN Wood and Elephant Wood chairs will be presented at the Paris fair, respectively designed by the well-known creative pair Harry&Camila and Neuland Industriedesign: comfortable modern shapes enhanced with the warm tactile appeal of wood.

Studio Bartoli Design had been working for years on a project for a poetically minimalist chair. The outcome is Joko, an absolute product. The difficulty lays in minimising it as far as possible, without making it too basic or rigid. Its distinguishing feature is the single fused shape, which is soft and organic, of its surfaces that include the front legs, the back and the rear legs. Its continuous surface can be upholstered in a variety of materials: in leather and in fabric in different colours and versions.

A complete furniture collection developed together with two outdoor design specialists: Harry&Camila. It includes a stackable chair, a stackable lounge chair with or without armrests, a stackable chaise longue and a lounger on wheels. They have epoxy-lacquered aluminium frames for outdoors while upholstery is in polyester rope or interlaced straps in the same material, for a textile and technological effect. The frames and upholstery are available in beige, brown, anthracite grey and black to provide tone-on-tone shades or to experiment with many colour combinations.

“The table and chair I am designing for Kristalia are ambitious design projects, not only because of their design but also because of the difficulty in manufacturing them industrially. These objects are simple in shape but technically complex.
I designed them to suit the Kristalia image, which, in my view, has a democratic dimension, as the company creates objects that are ideal for everyone and which are not just attractive but also have a significant technical content that enhances a design project. The style of Kristalia stands out for its simple linear design. There is no exhibitionism, it is basic, but sensually basic, with a technical difficulty that I like very much, and which provides customers with an attractive and well-constructed object."

These absolutely stunning pieces are achieved by gluing together 3 slabs of smoked glass, so that they look like a joist. The top-seat and the base are in 12 mm thick tempered glass, whereas the vertical support is in laminated glass.

The Chaise-longue has the seat in curved glass, supported by a vertical shaped element. Although the glass junction is narrow, highly resistant structural glueing allows it to handle the weight of a person.

This chaise-longue is particularly unique. When looking at it straight-on, the base almost vanishes leaving nothing but the beautifully curved glass seat hovering in mid-air. Truly an elegant and innovative design.

The collection is completed by removable cushions in a black colour fabric.

High table

This high table is completely realized in 15 mm thick transparent extra-light glass. The prismatic bases are obtained by glueing shaped glass slabs, whose sides are all beveled at different angles.

The top is tempered and rests on the bases.

These incredible glass chests of different types, colours and sizes have a pressure opening system.

The sides and back, realized in 12 mm thick glued 45º transparent extra-light glass, support drawers in wengé surrounded by tempered glass, lacquered in different colours.

The bottom of the drawers is in the same glass finish as the outside.

Low tables

These low tables in extra-light transparent glass are available in two different sizes. A complex and innovative curvature, characterized by particularly daring angles and gradients endow the low tables with a great deal of dynamism and plasticity.

The technical innovation is heightened by a very subtle thickness, which give the table and extremely light appearance.

Thanks to a special tempering treatment, the glass acquires an incredible strength.

These vases are composed of a parallelepiped shaped case, realized in transparent extra-light glass, glued 45º, and an organic shaped ceramic sculpture, supported and contained inside. The ceramic component, available in opaque white or platinum lacquer, is hollow and can contain water. Available in two shapes and sizes.

It wasn't until we saw these vases up close that we realized just how incredibly stunning they were. The platinum finish stuck out most of all.

A design pioneer, he quickly adopted a multidisciplinary approach and brought together a multitalented team of designers capable of responding to the very varied demands in the fields of industrial design, interior design, graphic design and architecture. His very first creation, a dining room set, displayed a modernism previously unseen in Quebec furniture. His design firm, Jacques S. Guillon & Associates Ltd., counts among its clients such leading enterprises as Air France, The Aluminium Company of Canada Limited, Morgan Trust Company, and Canadian General Electric Company.

The workplace environment, the product marketing process, the development of corporate identity programs and the practical aspect of urban transportation systems rapidly became some of this designer’s preferred interests.

Many of his projects have left their mark – and continue to have an impact – on Montreal, Canadian and North American landscapes. Among his most easily recognized accomplishments is the symbol and signage system for the Montreal Métro. The City of Montreal also commissioned him to develop the coachwork for the subway trains and to design an illuminated advertising display unit for the subway and the buses, an idea copied in many North American cities.

Throughout his career, Jacques S. Guillon has designed numerous interior layouts (Holiday Inn Downtown, restaurants, theatres, etc.), a wide range of office furniture, among others the Alumna collection by Artwood, corporate identity programs (Engineering Products of Canada) and has realized many transport-related projects (Alouette snowmobile and L.C.R. high-speed train). Lastly, he participated in mounting exhibitions that include the scientific exhibit at the Pavilion of Man at Expo 67 and many others at the National Museum of Science and Technology in Ottawa.

The Cord Chair

Today, the firm founded by Jacques S. Guillon has become gsmprjct, a name formed from the initials of the three senior designers, Guillon, Smith and Marquart.

The Cord Chair, Guillon's signature design, has been re-issued and is now available at the Avant-Scène showroom in Montreal.

These tables are made of “ancient swamp KAURI” from New Zealand, wood that has lain buried in the earth for thousands of years. This wood may vary in age from 7,000 to 50,000 years old. The special character of the mud in which this wood has been buried and the lack of oxygen in the soil have meant that no fossilization has taken place and the wood still remains splendid and intact, as if it had just been cut.

L’âge de ce bois varie de 7,000 jusqu’à 50,000 années. These square, rectangular or circular tables are ideally suited for either the center of a room or next to a sofa. The new Lithos tables come in the lighter colored Tavertino marble tops, or in black Portoro marble. Frames are in steel, with bronze and nickel.

Antonio Citterio was born in Meda in 1950, lives and works in Milan. He graduated in architecture at the Politecnico of Milan and from 1972 he has worked for many leading manufacturers such as B&B Italia. He has also been engaged in architectural works dealing with construction projects and interiors both in Italy and abroad. He holds lectures and conferences all over the world and his work has been extensively exhibited and published.

Antonio Citterio recently designed the Acro Collection for Maxalto, a division of B&B Italia.

Il est diplômé en architecture de l’école Politecnico de Milan, et depuis 1972 travaille pour des fabricants de renommée, tel que B&B Italia. The front panels are marked with a strip underlining the doors. The Eracle also reveals and an unexpected red lacquered interior. The pieces embody Eastern sophistication and grace. Other details on these storage units include a top that can be used as a "tray", and a hinged plate that acts as a handle.

This April, the Avant-Scene team was in Milan attending the 49th edition of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile - The 2010 International Furniture Exhibition.

The Rho Milan Fairgrounds were host to 2500 exhibitors, in conjunction with Eurocucina and its collateral event FTK, the International Bathroom Furniture Exhibition, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition and SaloneSatellite.

We are very excited to bring you some of the new collections offered by our more popular manufacturers, as well as introduce you to some new lines we will be carrying very shortly. Stay tuned to the Design Scene blog for a sneak peak at some of these new products.

Suspension, appliques murales, lampes sur pied, lampes d'appoint... tout se fait dans l'élégance et la simplicité chez David Weeks.

D'aspect démeusuré, les luminaires David Weeks s'imposent de par leur légèreté et leurs formes hors du commun, en remettant sur la scène le style néo-vintage des années 1950-1960.

Jouant le rôle de « mobile » suspendus, nous ne pouvons omettre de citer l'influence majeure de l'artiste français Serge Mouille sur la collection de David Weeks Studio.

David Weeks Lighting

From suspension lamps, to wall fittings, floor lamps and accent lights, all David Weeks Studio products are elegant and simple.

David Weeks lighting fixtures are bringing back the neo-vintage style of the 1950s and 60s with light, original shapes.

It is important to note the major influence French artist Serge Mouille's suspended mobiles have had on the David weeks Studio collection.

The ceiling lamps, with simply shaped diffusers, all have adjustable, pivoting arms that can be set to different positions, discretely lighting the spaces they overlook. Each diffuser can also act as a wall reflector, and is available in a variety of shapes and colours (black, white, red, or orange).

Several models are on display in the Avant-Scène showroom.

Pour célébrer le 40 ième anniversaire du fauteuil Up5_Up6, B&B Italia a crée une édition spécial de ce classique, maintenant disponible avec un revêtement argent et un numéro de série personnalisé. Up series: Looking good after 40 years !

In 1969, world renowned designer Gaetano Pesce introduced the Up series, offering a unique way of looking at seating through seven different models. Perhaps the most celebrated and recognizable of the series is the Up5_Up6, which has become an icon in the history of design. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Up5_Up6, B&B Italia has issued a special edition of this classic, now available in silver upholstery and personalized serial number.

The chair, in the shape of a woman with a ''ball and chain'' ottoman attached is a commentary on the subjugation of women, and effectively represents the boldness of that era.

A work of art in its own right, the Up5_Up6 is a stunning showpiece that still maintains its impact after 40 years.

Artemide at Euroluce 2009

This year marked the 25th edition of Euroluce, the Biennial International Lighting Exhibition, the ultimate benchmark for the lighting sector. Euroluce, which occurred at the same time as the 48th edition of the I Saloni International furniture exhibition in Milan, embraced both technology and innovation and displayed companies from all areas of lighting from residential to technical and street lighting.

One of the most impressive stands at the Saloni was by Italian lighting giant Artemide.

Artemide has continued in the same vein this year by using Ross Lovegrove as designer for several of their pieces. Lovegrove's Mercury and Droplet suspensions and ceiling lamps made a splash when they were first introduced in 2007, and have been immensely popular ever since. The concept of the Mercury and Droplet suspensions is based on the reflective quality of the materials used. For example, the Mercury consists of several polished chrome pebbles, suspended underneath an aluminum disc. These pebbles in turn reflect light off of each other when the lamp is on, and when off, the mirror like quality of the pebbles reflects the environment around them, allowing the lamp to be both sculpture and lighting solution. The Droplet lamp on the other hand plays with light and shadow, recreating the effect of rippling water on the aluminum disc.

This year at Euroluce, Artemide introduced several other lamps by Ross Lovegrove such as the Cosmic Angel and Cosmic leaf lamps, as well as expanded further on the Droplet and Mercury designs by developing a wall lamp version. The Cosmic Angel consists of a complex undulated surface which was developed to capture light from several different sources. the Cosmic leaf lamp functions the same way, capturing light and shadow on its body. Both lamps use an indirect diffused light source with LED decorative RGB lights.

Another piece that captured people's attention was the Doride table and floor lamps by architect and designer Karim Rashid. The Doride is a lamp with a zoomorphic form that can be adjusted by the stem to change shape.

Through these new lamps, Artemide has introduced exciting and innovative lighting solutions into the residential and architectural lighting market that seem to combine both art, sculpture, lighting, and functionality.

L'été chez B&B Italia est dévoilé par une toute nouvelle gamme de mobilier d'extérieur, dessinée par la talentueuse Patricia Urquiola.

L'année précédente, l'artiste s'est engagée dans la création de la ligne Canasta, sous l'angle du tressage traditionnel à la paille de Vienne et cela tout en lui conférant un cachet purement contemporain de par ses formes géométriques.

Cette année, les deux nouvelles lignes portent les noms de Crinoline et de Ravel.

Toujours inspirée par le tressage, la ligne Crinoline (composée de divers éléments) dégage une fusion remarquable entre douceur, tradition et sensualité.

À la fois poétique et exotique, les hauts dossiers des fauteuils reflètent l'univers de la surdimension et de l'asymétrie, et affichent un tissage décoratif floral des plus délicats. Les Crinolines sont travaillées en fibre naturelle ou en polyéthylène et se déclinent en deux teintes, l'unes blanche et l'autre de couleur bronze.

Différentes dimensions sont disponibles également dont diverses variantes au niveau des dossiers (haut et bas) ainsi qu'au niveau des largeurs, piétements et formats. L'option du coussin d'assise est également à noter, se déclinant quant à lui en plusieurs motifs textiles aux couleurs estivales.

La gamme Ravel, plus sage, est constituée de systèmes modulaires de différentes dimensions et options. Que se soit en forme de sectionnel ou en loveseat, la gamme Ravel reprend le principe du tressage au niveau du dossier et permet une multitude de variabilités quant à l'agencement des éléments; éléments incluant tables, poufs et chaises longues.

Les tissus de revêtements sont aussi nombreux que colorés, et sont mis en valeur par un piétement métallique des plus discrets.

La gamme Ravel annonce donc un décor plus doux et plus sinueux à la fois que les Canasta, précédentes réalisations Outdoor de Patricia Urquiola pour B&B Italia.

Ambiance chaleureuse, design innovant… et écolo !

Le tout dernier moyen de réchauffer une pièce alliant design, petit prix et respect de l’environnement a finalement vu le jour.
Ces chauffages ou foyers dits à l’éthanol ont pris peu à peu leur envol et font parti des produits les plus en vogue en ce moment.
Sans conduits ni de prises de courant, ils sont très aisément déplaçables au gré de vos envies et vous permettrons de moduler vos espaces selon vos envies du moment: salon, salle à manger, chambre à coucher; certains sont même spécialement conçu pour l’extérieur !
Même si d’un premier aspect ces foyers paraissent décoratifs, détrompez-vous… ils constituent un réel chauffage d’appoint et permettent de réchauffer perceptiblement une pièce de 60 mètres carrés !

Côté fonctionnalité il suffit tout simplement de verser une petite quantité d’éthanol dans le réservoir destiné à cet effet, la flamme du briquet (briquet compris avec le foyer) en contact avec l’éthanol l’allumera donc.
Côté écologique, l’éthanol est un carburant propre faisant partie des énergies renouvelables, il ne présente aucun effet néfaste pour la sante.
Une fois le réservoir rempli (un peu moins de 500 ml), votre foyer restera allumé pendant 2 heures; une bouteille de 4 litres vous permettra donc de vous réchauffer pendant près de 16 heures ! (Prix de la bouteille de 4 litres : $ 40)

Enfin coté design, nous n’avons rien à reprocher aux foyers épurés de la compagnie PLANIKA. Le design et la finition sont soignés, les matériaux sont sélectionnés à la fois pour leur esthétisme ainsi que pour leur durabilité; la flamme émise est réelle et digne d’un feu de cheminée !

C’est déco et ça chauffe !

Le Moon System de Zaha Hadid

Zaha Hadid. Son nom devrait incontestablement en interpeller plus d’un.
À la une de l’actualité architecturale ces dernières années, Zaha Hadid est devenue grâce à ses créations, à ses lignes inhabituelles quelque peu futuristes, l’emblème incontesté du design et de l’architecture et ce au niveau mondial.
De Londres à Dubaï, cette architecte anglo-irakienne détient cette touche architecturale prise entre géométrie stricte, angles définis, courbes parfaites et sphères aériennes, le tout respectant la fluidité des espaces et des formes, et faisant de chaque réalisation une œuvre d’art à part entière.
Cette symbiose entre fonctionnalité et esthétisme rejoint ce que tout amateur de design rechercherait.
La célèbre enseigne de B&B ITALIA lui doit la récente création de leur tout dernier sofa : Le Moon System. Sa stature accueillante, son assise semi-arrondie, sa forme à la fois minimaliste, sensuelle et organique font de ce sofa un item phare du design.
Ce sofa sculptural de 3 mètres de long aux fonctions polyvalentes serait le point de mire de toute pièce et ferait de cette dernière une œuvre d’art à proprement parler. La base en polyuréthane injecté à froid garantie à ce dernier robustesse et durabilité. Nous ne pouvons en espérer moins de la part de B&B ITALIA.
Il ne vous reste donc qu’à faire le choix du revêtement adéquat : Tissu techno ou coton incrusté de fil d’or.
